The issue of abandoned and unwanted domesticated animals is a heartbreaking and widespread problem that we cannot ignore. As humans, we are responsible for creating this problem through overbreeding animals for pets and then callously abandoning them when we can no longer care for them.
This disregard for the lives of these innocent creatures is not only cruel but also places a heavy burden on the natural resources of our shared planet. It is our duty as humans to ensure that the animals we bring into this world are loved, cared for, and have access to the essentials of life such as food, water, and shelter.
We must take responsibility for the issue we have created.
Old and deteriorating kennels are not a safe haven for rescued or abandoned animals, leaving them vulnerable to harm.
The uMngeni SPCA works tirelessly to repair and maintain these kennels, but this is a challenging task without the necessary funding. Building materials are costly, and the kennels require ongoing maintenance to provide a secure and comfortable environment for these temporary furry residents. In support of this cause, we were fortunate to sponsor the Vista Mesh fencing to secure a number of kennels for the uMngeni SPCA.
With the new fencing in place, the animals in their care are now safe from harm and are unable to escape their enclosures, preventing potential injuries

We were also able to donate a significant amount of Vista-Mesh panels and fence posts to help secure the perimeter of the SPCA property, which ensures that any animals that manage to escape their kennels, are still confined to within the SPCA property.
With the help of many compassionate businesses, some of the kennels received much-needed improvements such as a fresh coat of paint and additional structural elements, transforming them into not only secure spaces but also more welcoming environments for the animals.
We recognize that our contribution is just one of many, as the SPCA relies on the kindness of numerous businesses and individuals who generously donate a wide range of goods and services. Without the collective support, countless helpless domestic animals would be left without the care and protection they so desperately need.
